Maloney’s top student aspires to help others through technology

That career goal is a continuation of operate that began at Maloney.

Throughout her decades in superior university, Nguyen compiled a cumulative 4.8 quality point ordinary. But she didn’t just concentrate on academics and researching. 

“I desired to make the most of my time right here,” she mentioned. So Nguyen grew to become extensively associated in quite a few golf equipment, like her school’s LEO Club and the Black Student Alliance. 

LEO stands for Leadership Practical experience Opportunities. The club is focused on carrying out support jobs at Maloney and in the Meriden group. 

The LEO Club not long ago held drives for the Meriden Humane Modern society and arranged fundraisers for results in like breast most cancers recognition. Nguyen eventually grew to become the group’s president. 

Nguyen grew up in Meriden. Her mother is Kimanh Vu and her father is Do Nguyen. She has a brother who is 21. 

Nguyen attended Thomas Hooker Elementary College and Thomas Edison Center Faculty. She recalled when she was in fifth quality that an educator, who wasn’t her instructor, manufactured a prediction. 

“She usually instructed me that I would be valedictorian,” Nguyen mentioned. But as a fifth grade pupil, she was not so guaranteed.

The same educator attended Maloney’s latest Leading 10 university student evening meal. “She handed me a notice that I gave her from fifth quality, the place I wrote, ‘thank you.’”

In the note Nguyen insisted that she would be valedictorian. She could not think her former educator experienced held onto it for all those people several years.

And that educator wouldn’t be the only particular person to get note of Nguyen’s academic achievements.

Lobner described his former pupil as deeply insightful and a brilliant writer.

But teachers would not be the only thing academics like Lobner would occur to know Nguyen for. She was on the school’s powder puff football team, which Lobner coached. 

Nguyen meanwhile attributes the fact that she flourished partly to assist she obtained along the way from teachers like Lobner and from her friends.
