Dr. Charles Kiriakou has been appointed as the town of Suffolk’s director of information technologies.
City Supervisor Albert Moor designed the appointment productive Wednesday, June 22.
Kiriakou has worked in the IT occupation for 35 a long time, with 20 several years of knowledge in data security/cybersecurity. He begun his IT vocation as a programmer and knowledge processing supervisor for a tiny food distribution corporation. He transitioned to the Federal Civil Service, where by he worked 30 yrs at various Navy commands.
For the Navy, he held the positions of LAN supervisor, community administrator, webmaster, details assurance application manager, deputy director and director of Operational Selected Approving Authority (ODAA), director of Procedure Cyber Asset Reduction and Protection (Autos), deputy director of Navy Authorizing Formal (NAO), and director of Navy Authorizing Formal at U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/US TENTH Fleet.
Kiriakou gained a Bachelor of Science in Computer system Science and Grasp of Business Administration (with IT concentration) from Previous Dominion University and a doctorate in Facts Technologies with specialization in Information Safety from Capella University. He is also a qualified info protection manager (CISM). He has taught graduate-level IT and Cybersecurity programs at Purdue College World wide, Kaplan University and Northcentral College.
